Bio
Achim Mendoza is an ex-Filipino-soap-opera translator turned award-winning filmmaker whose works have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, among many other prestigious festivals. While he also directs and writes, his main focus is in editing and post-production. His editing credits include the Jodie Foster-produced Sundance documentary "ALOK," and "Walk by Me," a sequel to the 1990 Sundance-winning documentary "Metamorphosis." He also was an assistant editor on "Uvalde Mom," which premiered at SXSW 2025. His upcoming documentary work includes the Diane Quon-produced “Sheesh: A Love Story,” and “Be Not Afraid," a feature documentary about a Filipino family's struggle with being targeted of an Asian hate crime.
He also works in the narrative space, having edited award-winning shorts such as "Vic and His Nanay," "Fil-Am," and the upcoming "Painkiller," which Zelda Barnz, co-creator of the HBO Max show "Generations," directed and wrote. In 2026, he produced and edited “(0, ∞),” which won the Best Lawrence Kasdan Best Narrative Film at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. His directing credits include "Connection," "A Karaoke Space Odyssey," and "Party Starts at 5,” which recently won the grand jury award at the 2025 FilAm Creative Film Festival Award.
He is currently represented by the Independent Artists Group (IAG).
In his spare time, he tries to perfect his family's longsilog recipe.
